Bloggering

Hi everybody,
Sorry that I did not blog for quite a while. I've been sort of busy because of the Technical Report due in about 2 weeks. I've gotten several pages completed. Last week was very fun. Every night we played volleyball and you can never have too much of volleyball. Yesterday was by far the best day I ever had. It was Pinawa's Birthday. We made a float for the parade and our theme was Superheroes and Villains. We all got to dress up in costumes. I was a pig from my favourite Chinese Folktale. Here is a link about that character. The picture might not be a good representation but that is the story of him. The parade was awesome. Candy and water balloons were thrown everywhere. I was full of joy and happiness. During the afternoon we all went to the beach and entered a volleyball tournament. Our team did great but unfortunately we did not get into the finals. Then night fell and the fireworks flew into the skies with magnificent effects. I believe that the fireworks in Pinawa were much more nicer than the ones used during Canada Day back in Winnipeg.

That's it, that's all.

Another 2 Day Bloggering

Sorry for the double blogs. I've been busy having fun that I forgot =P

Yesterday was movie night. Nothing much happened just a movie and some time before bedtime.

For today, we had a presentation on how to write a technical report. For the summer program we are required to write a 20-25 page scientific technical report to be submitted at the end of the program. It describes what our project was about, what we did for the project, and our final results. The report is a big part of the program because it allows us to show what we have learned during the 6 weeks. Sure it is long but who said we still can't have fun writing it. =)

That's it, that's all.

Bloggering for 2 Days

I sort of forgot to blog for yesterday so I guess I'll double it up =)

Well yesterday we woke up as usual but Krist WOKE UP LATE!!. Everybody made it to their projects on time which was funny. Well after the project we cleaned up for supper at the church across the street. The sky was gray, rainy, and wet =( Other than that supper was excellent. We ate to our fullest and ran back to the rez through the rain. Watched a movie and it was bedtime.

Today my project group got the chance to return back to Winnipeg to do a little experiment at Dunn- Rite. It was the best day thus far, I got to see my parents again. My father works there but was on holiday. He visited anyways and brought my mother along. It was great. I never saw my parents for a week which is a record for me =P. I was delighted :D.

Thats was my day. It couldn't get better. Well maybe it could. A friend and I are planning to make Fried Rice for the MSA Students on the weekend. Hopefully that works out.

That's it, that's all.

my days at camp

well this is my first time being at camp, and i guess i can say it is a very good experience for me. everyone at the camp are great, we actually all have become really close within these last couple of days. it feels as if we have known eachother for months rather then days. also with all the students, the rez supervisors are also a lot of fun, and entertaining:). The school days seem a little long, but its not so bad, i'm often looking forward to getting back to the rez.
Anyways i should be getting back to my project, rather then wasting time on the web=)

First Weekend Over : - (

Today was the last day of our weekend. It was surely fun. We had to cancel our plans but we got a chance to have some fun at the Wedge. We just hung around playing volleyball and whatnot. The best part of the day was when Krist was out. As a group we decided to play a little prank on our good friend Krist. Haha. We kind of raided and took all of his belongings and stored them in the Prep Room. To find his stuff he must journey on a hunt called "Krist's Quest of Doom". We made little clues for him to find which led him to his stuff. The look on his face when he came back to his room was hilarious.
This was a perfect end to our first weekend and I hope that all of the other weekends will be just as fun if not more.

That's it, that's all.

4th Day

Wow, our first weekend =)
Today was lets say wet. First thing was pack up lunch and off to Thunder Mountains for some waterslide fun!!! I went on a couple but since I was on the Yearbook committee I had to take some pictures. Most of the pictures were composed of fellow Campers going off of the Bullet, the fastest slide. The pictures were hilarious. They were screaming and I actually caught some of it on the pictures =P
After the slides we went for a good dip at Grand Beach. It was hot but a good walk in the water cooled me off. After the beach we went for dinner, a movie, and off to sleep.

That's it, that's all.

3rd Day

Wow was today great. The morning was the same. Get up make breakfast and lunch like normal people do and I was off to the project location. We got a few more lessons about biological classification and optics. The afternoon was harsh. The professor got all of us to do "exercises" if you consider flips and 540's exercises. It was fun. We got some laughs which I believe was the main point. The evening was also cool. Dinner, a swim in the pool, and a movie. It can't get any better than that. So yeah, that whole day was great and swimming tomorrow would be even better.

That's it, that's all.

My first blog post?!

Pinawa thus far

Well, it is day two of my time at the Manitoba Science Academy (that is, July 3rd). So far I have been given a theoretically oriented lecture by my undergraduate tutor and a scientific log book by one of my senior scientist supervisors, an associate professor. The other supervisor, a graduate student, briefly asked some questions related to the theoretical lecture and then left to carry out other work. Both my supervisors and tutors are from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. I ought to stop here, as the rest might be confidential (it probably isn't, but rather safe than sorry).

In the evening I played some soccer and purchased some diet soda pop (which, contrary to popular opinion, is not poison) from the local grocery store. I also played some soccer with local residents of Pinawa while others had an interesting (to say the least!) game of red rover. I'm somewhat sorry that I missed that game, but soccer was enjoyable nonetheless.

Today, one of my peers at the Science Academy had a birthday. So happy birthday was sung throughout the day and cake was consumed at night.

This will be one of an unspecified number of blog posts by me from the MSA. I hope everyone else continues to have an spectacular time here.

Sincerely,

Dylon

2nd Day

Today was a fellow camper's birthday so we had a party, which was great. As for the projects most of us I believe received some safety training classes which was a TAD boring. But hey it will come in absolute help if the situation appears. *Knock on wood* Sleeping was great.

That's it, that's all.

First Day Over

The first day is over at the camp. I'm completing my settling in and so far it has been great. Getting to meet new people is very fun and interesting. Tomorrow will be the first day of our projects and hopefully those are as exciting as the first day. Sure it was kind of sad to say good bye to my family for 6 weeks but I'm doing fine. It's my first time away from my family for such a long period of time but it seems like I'm doing fine.

That's it, that's all and good night

=)
